Hi,
I've recently began to get this message from my vbulletin forum and wondered what it means? No files or anything have been changed, it just started to happen.
--------------------
Dear My Name
Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notifications (IPN). Instant Payment Notifications sent to the following URL(s) are failing:
http://www.myforumurl.com
If you do not recognize this URL, you may be using a service provider that is using IPN on your behalf. Please contact your service provider with the above information. If this problem continues, IPNs may be disabled for your account.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this issue.
Yours sincerely,
PayPa
----------------------
Can anyone see why this would of started to happen.
I've also noticed that the only other people to post about this have done so within the last 20 hours which suggests it isnt my files but something on paypals end.
Regards,
Jezlad

I too, have been receiving these emails from paypal. I logged in to my paypal account,
clicked on 'profile',
scrolled down to the bottom of the page and under 'selling preferences' on the right-hand side,
clicked on 'instant payment notification preferences'
then, clicked 'edit ipn settings'. on this page, I selected
Do not receive IPN messages (Disabled)
then I clicked save.
IT WORKED YEAH!!! 🙂
I did just receive an email from paypal letting me know a customer just purchased one of my piano cds,
so....we will be notified through email anyway when there is a sale.
Hope this helps you too and I hope this corrects the problem for all of us.
Best to you, take care!

Reading other posts about disabling IPN notices left me wondering if I would get any kind of notice about payments or sales. Your's did, so thanks -- now the PayPal warning about disabling my IPN isn't quite so threatening. I'm going to do nothing since it all works fine on my end and I'll just delete these stupid emails until Paypal follows through on their threat.

I've been receiving these emails as well though I turned off IPN months ago. I just reenabled it and redisabled it to see if that helps clear up these emails.
I'm surprised there has been no response from PayPal in this thread. It appears to be a very widespread problem.

I've had the same problem.
I've using Payloadz and the ipn they have on my account. I've redone this 2x's with no luck.
I just did it a third time. We will see.
PayLoadz just gave me the same direction to link my ipn to paypal.
I thought about cancelling my account with payloadz the reupping to get a new ipn.
PayPay worked as I bought something in a test button for 0.03. I got emails and everything from PayPal but not PayLoadz.
Has anyone figuired this crap out yet?

I've been using IPN for about 6-7 years now, and have NEVER received this message.
Has it occurred to anyone that these messages are not even from Paypal, but simply one of many spoofs sent by spammers under the Paypal name? Has anyone checked the links?

I'm also getting the same emails. I have checked everything on my end, debugged, and ran IPN check. Everything is checking out perfectly fine on my end. I received two of these warning emails from paypal last night along with the others I have been receiving daily.
Paypal can you please tell us what's going on? I know there is no problem on my end as my log events are coming out there is nothing wrong.
Help!

Add me to the list of people getting this too! I got my first one yesterday. I spent several hours testing in the sandbox and that all worked fine. My IPN handler simply emails me so I know I got an order (plan to store in DB once volume increases). I had 3 orders on Wed. - all 3 of those orders were renotified this morning. 2 were VERIFIED and the 3rd generated the above error although the history listed it as verified and OK response code. I manually resent it and this time got an UNVERIFIED response. I suspect PayPal is having some problems.
cheers,
Michael

Same thing for me. I have gotten 3 notifications in the last 24 hours. I forwarded a copy to spoof@paypal.com and have not heard anything yet.
