My mobile number changed a few years ago but I never updated my profile.
Now I can't log in as Paypal wants to send me a text on the old number to verify the account.
I've tried logging in from a different browser which doesn't work.
Also tried using the Help Chat system, but this also requires me to log in to proceed.
Tried ringing the help support number but spent ages going round and round in circles with the automated options, could not get to a point of speaking to an actual person.
Funny thing is, when I selected 'Ask the Community' to access this forum, it allowed me to log in to create this profile to do this!
Really stuck as to how to resolve. Would really appreciate if anyone can offer some help with this please?

Then you best contact customer services, if you can't log in then use the guest option when you phone.

Paypal keeps asking me for a mobile phone number. I don't have one since I don't have a smartphone and Paypal doesn't let me bypass it anymore.

You need a mobile phone to access your paypal account, so why not get a cheap pay as you go phone?
Then contact customer services to help you add it to your account?

the fact that this thread has accumulated almost 5000 replies in a few years and the process has not been streamlined at all and many people dont know how to handle this tells you eeverything you need to know about this company.
automating customerservice like this, having people go around in circles and jumping hoops is the way to go these days, because ... scr*w the customer, we are making enough money!
as soon as i get control over my account back, i will cancel it!

I had to change the telephonenumber, but that is impossible to do because the confirmation goes every time to the old, not existing number.

Hy,
sadly I have changed my telephone number and want to access an account I have not used for a while.
I know the username - password, and also the email, everything is correct. But I cannot login because of the changed telephone number (SMS before login). Is there a way to somehow regain access to my account with email and password?

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to close your old Paypal account and open a new Paypal account registered in the country where you now live. You would then need to add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.
You should really withdraw any funds / resolve issues / remove cards and bank accounts / cancel any subscriptions and close the old Paypal account before you move countries. If you don't then you may have problems doing so once you have moved and may need to contact customer services for help to resolve things.
