I have two phone numbers on my PayPal profile - a Primary Mobile and a Primary Home. I no longer have the landline (Home) since I stopped using the service in April tgis year. My wife and I now only have the mobile, number as contact. This is obviously going to become more common in the UK. I would like to remove the Primary(Home) number, as only one number for contact is now available.When I try to remove the landline I have to add another number before I can do that. But I don't have any other number ( other than my wife’s mobile number) that I can add. How do I remove the old landline Home number so that it does not mislead people.

Hi, Thank you for the advice, but I had already tried entering the same mobile number in both sections, which did not work. It comes back saying the number is already used. It looks as if it has to be a different number so I think I will just leave it as it is. Thank you anyway.

Worked for me, I have my mobile number under primary mobile + primary HOME.
Maybe keep trying?

This was my exact question! I just tried to change the old Home # to my cell phone #, which was already listed, and I was not allowed to change it either. Guess I'll have to leave the old, incorrect # too. From 2022: "73% lived in households (in the US) with only wireless phones, and 25% lived in households with both."
PayPal needs to do something about this. It is behind the times.

I too got the same auto-response as @Hubbys52 from the system when attempting to add the primary mobile number as the primary home number. The system says the number is already in use and won't allow the same number to be used as primary mobile and primary home. It seems that this would be a fairly simple software fix for paypal. Hopefully, they get the message soon.

Use the AI chat in the bottom corner and tell it you need to remove an old/inaccurate number and it will walk you through the steps. Just did it for mine and it worked fine. Wish the help topics would have mentioned it was as easy as using the chat bot so we don't have to spend ages searching around for an answer.
