Paypal payment code

Hi whenever I use PayPal as a form of payment online, my card statement lists it as PAYPAL*xyz where xyz is the actual merchant. One specific transaction, however, lists it differently, showing only the merchant name and no “PAYPAL” prefix even though Paypal was used for that purchase. What is the difference between a PAYPAL billing code and the other code, from Paypal or merchant perspective?

Did you pay as a guest or was this this transaction done through your PayPal account.   (Just guessing here ..)

I always do it through my PayPal account and one of my saved cards.

Thanks, unfortunately I'm not really sure why it's formatted differently, you can reach out to PayPal via their Facebook page or Twitter account as both are supported by PayPal employees, perhaps they will have the answer.
