I paid for a return flight on Monarch via Paypal on 3rd Jan 2017.  As it is over 180 days am I unable to make a claim?  I cannot get through to anyone in Customer Services to ask as the automated system does not cover this query.

Well good for you. Let's hope you never make a mistake or overlook something then.

Well if I do then it would be my mistake and I would take responsibility for it and not expect companies to change their rules for me.

I dont think that making your credit card the payment method for your Pay Pal will necessarily give protection. They will probably consider Pay OPal as third party. I thought I would be covered as my Visa Debit Card is directly linked to Pay Pal but it is not covered. Hope you are correct in your assumption. But check it!

Having been on this forum for over 10 years and with over 7000 kudos / solutions I can assure you that I have advised and buyers have done 'thousands' of 'chargebacks' directly via their card issuers if they were out of time for a paypal dispute OR paypal did not cover that transaction for whatever reason.

Really? And there I was thinking that my post would reassure you that others had done chargebacks via their credit cards even though they paid with paypal and not to worry about the 3rd party thing and  that having been on here for years I can confirm that.

In other words don't give up on a c.c claim but

Whatever.....!

What is perfectly clear me is that PayPal clients should avoid paying for flights and other travel arrangements via PayPal if, as like many winessed here, you plan ahead with bookings and are possibly going to br hit by the 180 day rule. Use another method of payment instead like a Credit Card. PayPal has its uses. But not in the case of forward travel planning. Take your business elswhere to avoid being stung!!!+@@×

I spent ages on the phone. Finally told no refund possible as outside the 180 day rule. Sent a link by PayPal to fill in a form www.actionfraud.police.uk This is clearly of no use and yet another side track. I am not a happy PayPal customer!!!!!!!!!
