You are only allowed x1 dispute per transaction.
You can't re-open a closed dispute OR open a new one for the same transaction.
You should never close a dispute until everything is resolved, if its not resolved you have up to 20 days to escalate the dispute to a claim for paypal to get involved. If you don't escalate then it will close on day 20.
You can't appeal a dispute that was not escalated and a decision made by paypal.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

How are they supposed to escalate a closed dispute???
https://www.paypal.com/in/cshelp/article/how-do-i-close-my-dispute-or-claim-HELP180
Make sure that you’re 100% satisfied with how the case was resolved before closing it. If the seller offered to refund your payment, for example, make sure that the amount is in your PayPal account before you close the case.
Once a case is closed, it can’t be reopened or escalated to a claim.

I dont have that option at the bottom of the dispute page. I only have ‘close case’ and ‘change case’.

yeah,
Patreon renewed a subscription that I didn't want. I cancelled the subscription on the day the funds were processed and patreon didn't return my funds. I went to paypal and they denied my claim although I showed them proof they I cancelled on the same day and I only have a free patreon account. I appealed it and they denied that too! I'm baffled up and upset. No don't have a subscription OR my money and the patreon creator has never replied. Seems I can't appeal a 2nd time, so I have to go to my card company, which I'm definitely doing.
Scandalous...
