Hello friends,

It seems that I got scammed from a Facebook Marketplace seller. Just wondering how can PayPal refund me IF the seller already withdraw the money from Paypal?

Thank you.

Only the merchant can cancel a completed order and issue a refund.

You can open a dispute for non receipt of item if you don't get it OR item received but not as described if it turns out that way.

If you open a dispute and escalate to a claim and win then you should be covered by buyer protection.

So if the seller doesn't refund then PayPal will under their buyer protection policy and then they will put the sellers account into negative balance until he pays PayPal back again.

Thank you for your helpful information.

The seller has not shipped my item yet but my payment was completed, is there anything I can do right now to stop this order going?
If I file a dispute, which dispute should I choose? Will PayPal just ask the seller to ship it and provide a tracking number?
I just told the seller to cancel the order, what will happen if the seller insist in shipping the item?

Thank you!!

Hello! The seller agreed to refund but the refund never arrived for a few days now. I have a Facebook messenger proof that the seller agrees to refund. (goods are never shipped and will not be shipped because I cancelled it. )

To dispute, should I select the "I did not receive the item"?  And show PayPal the proof?

Thank you!!

Hi @zhiweipipi172

Thank you for your reply. And thank you to @kernowlass for your help and advice in this thread!

If you did not receive the item or a refund, the type of dispute that would need to be opened would be, as you suggested, that you did not receive the item. You can learn more about opening and escalating a dispute in this article.

I hope this is helpful!

FaceBook has only recently started investigating and taking down the bogus Samash*.* SCAM ads... Filed a Dispute w/PayPal for an amplifier that hasne't shipped, has no tracking info, and Contacting Seller yielding no results... "The Seller has been contacted and PayPal is awaiting their response.."

Just wanted to report another scam.  Paypal is agreeing with the seller.  Even though the seller shipped a bogus product and now wants me to return the product to China for a refund.  It will cost me more to ship back than the actual product price.  What a Scam!  This is how this company does business!  BEWARE!

Chinese Web Sites or on Social Media ads easy to spot (once you know the below signs) so buyer beware.

1. No return address on the returns policy. The site will look as if its in your country (where they despatch goods from) but they will ask for returns to go back to China (returns depot) at a shipping cost often more than the item is worth.
2. No contact telephone number. if you click on contact the most you will get is webmail or an email address.
3. Rarely company address information.
4. Great pictures of items at bargain prices that turn out to be tat.
5. Fake reviews.
6. Google and you can often see previous company names as they change them once enough claims roll in and Paypal stop them using their services and start over.
7. Send fake tracking numbers to win item non receipt of item claims.
