I bought two pairs of shoes from a company called ‘Wilson Melbourne’. They were advertised as orthopaedic shoes. Before I purchased I read their return rules that I would have to pay postage if I needed to return. As the company was advertising being in Melbourne I went ahead and bought them. I was very disappointed when they arrived. Not only they were not orthopaedic but they were cheap shoes and the sizing was wrong. I wrote to them the same day I recieved them and they gave me a China address to return them. The postage to china is very expensive so I refused and asked for their Melbourne address. It has been a month and I am still trying to deal with them…. I dont know what else to do….

One of these?
Chinese Web Sites or on Social Media ads easy to spot (once you know the below signs) so buyer beware.
The best thing is to not buy from them in the first place, to recognise them -
1. No return address on the returns policy. The site will look as if its in your country (where they despatch goods from) but they will ask for returns to go back to China (returns depot) at a shipping cost often more than the item is worth.
2. No contact telephone number. if you click on contact the most you will get is webmail or an email address.
3. Rarely company address information.
4. Great pictures of items at bargain prices that turn out to be tat.
5. Fake reviews.
6. Google and you can often see previous company names as they change them once enough claims roll in and Paypal stop them using their services and start over.
7. Send fake tracking numbers to win item non receipt of item claims.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thank you! I do know now and wont be buying anything online anymore apart from the companies I know. I realised that they are operating under many names. What can I do to get at least some of my money back? I paid $100 for shoes I can not wear but I refuse to pay $50-$60 to post them back. Will paypal get involved and help?

You can open a dispute for item received but not as described but its not guaranteed you will win.
https://www.paypal.com/cshelp/article/how-do-i-open-a-dispute-with-a-seller-HELP160
Put in as much information as you can before you escalate to a claim.
HOWEVER if you win then paypal under their buyer protection policy normally asks you to return the item first (trackable to prove delivery and at your own cost) before you get a refund of your original payment.

I got caught in that same scam, and to my shame have to admit I fell for the advertisements of further reductions, so ordered more shoes. And to my disappointment, PayPal was not help at all, they sided with the seller that the shoes were delivered, did not even address the issue of false advertising. I am very disgusted, and I will be very wary of trusting PayPal for any help now.
