So basically I have a moped for sale which I advertised on gumtree, had one "lady" email me saying consider it sold. She said she needed to have a courier pick it up because she is disabled and buying for her son, it sounded dodgy right off to be honest. She then sent me a sum of of money then requested I pay the courier before the money is credited into my account. I'm clearly not going to do that! The address for the courier is in London I have sent no money, convinced it is a scam. The emailers name is Jessica Lauren apparently. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I have no notifications on PayPal saying I have any form of payment "on hold how do I get out of this situation? Just stop replying to emailer or block her? I haven't got any money from her and she has none from me so...

This has happened to me today. I have had emails saying she's put it in my PayPal but I have to pay a agent fee of 300 thro western union and if I don't do it within 24hrs I will have legal action took against me as it's going against PayPal terms and conditions. What do I do?

I am sorry to hear that this has happened and also happy that you were aware that this was not us requesting you to do this. Just to be sure that all of our other members know, we would never ask anyone to send payments via Western Union. We always advised to not ship your item until you can see that payment on your PayPal account.
Yes this exact thing happened to me yesterday! I received a text message asking me to email jessicalauren7681. I did so and she proceeded to tell me the same story. Good job i had my whits about me. This is not legit!
I had the same situation, selling a motorbike on gum tree, after various emails back and forth I told her I'd been in touch with PayPal and they said it was a scam, Funny, I never herd from her again
Exactly the same for me over a bed advertised on gumtree. She didn't even bother to vary the story. How long before they decide not to bother with these scams...ugh.
