It should be possible to make instant micro payments (5c€ 10c€ etc) for small things. Having a wallet with X euros and being able to pay for small things like reading a newspaper article without being a subscriber, etc. The newspaper would charge a minimal amount but in addition it could show advertising on the page.
Might seems like a good idea, but in actuality, it's a terrible idea. Walmart thought self checkouts were a good idea, now theft has shot up over 1000% at some stores. Even though it's not a huge amount, it would leave PayPal on the hook for 10's of thousands of payments a day if they are contested. That would mean their already very busy support department would be all but unreachable due to the excessive amounts of calls and disputed payments such an action would generate.
