Friends and family option gone

Thanks for your input and assistance though sometimes, it's best to ignore people who are trying to insult. Anyway, I'm having this issue and I just realized. I'm in Jamaica. Can you advise if it's restricted from my country?

So im not sure if you ran into the same issue I did or not, but here is what happened to me.

After searching around for a LONG time I figured out that since I only had a debit card linked to my account there is no friends and family option. That option is only available if you are paying with a bank account that you have directly linked to your profile. Then after you enter your payment amount and click continue there is an option to change from goods and service to friends and family at the top of the screen.

So basically what it comes down to is it is not possible to do a friends and family transaction with a linked credit/debit card. you must use a linked bank account, which you can do be adding it to the profile tab.

Sadly not, i send friends / family payments a lot using my debit or credit card.

You can use friends / family from any funding source, the only restriction is what country you are in as a lot of countries do not have that option.

And you have to remember if you use a credit card in some countries then you pay a fee.

That's right! You have to link a bank account to activate the friend and family option.

Using my bank account rather than my debit card solved this problem for me 🙂

I encountered this problem yesterday.  I have account linked to my bank account, fyi.  I tried to send $ to a friend who also has a business.  Paypal did not give F&F option.  I tried numerous times.  I believe now they have some algorithm that fully blocks any F&F payments to emails/phone numbers they show associated with businesses.  (Even if they are small, part-time businesses.)  This makes sense, because they lose some revenue on F&F to businesses.  Anyway, it is very irritating and I can find nothing on this from Paypal.  But I know they are observing accounts and tightening up this feature.  Soon I’ll be offered Purchase Protection for my dogsitter?  Rubbish...

I had similar issue for one particular friend.  No matter what I tried the message for Friends or Service wouldn't come up.  The problem was that I paid my friend quickly without seeing that I had mistakenly marked him as a company.  The next time I went to pay him it defaulted to a company again.  You're able to fix it after entering the amount and hitting [Continue].  Before finalizing payment look below the $ amount for something that says that your paying for a service and hit [change] to the right.
