Paypal is processing currency conversion rather than charging me in local currency?

In my last three transactions, Paypal is processing local currency to my credit card, despite me changing the currency selection and selecting the foreign currency. I would much rather have my card issuer process the foreign currency conversion. This used to work fine and not sure why it is no longer working?

Hello @chrismasonnz,

Welcome to PayPal Community Forum and thank you for posting!

I understand that you're worried about the currency conversion on your account. When you make a payment in a foreign currency, we calculate the conversion rate for you. You'll see the rate when you make your payment. When you make a payment using your card, you can choose to use your card issuer's conversion rate. If you choose to use your card issuer's rate, you won't know the conversion rate right away. To find out the exact rate, you'll need to check your card statement later or contact your card issuer directly. To select your card issuer's rate, when reviewing your payment, select the option that says "Convert currency with PayPal" to change it to "Convert with the card issuer." If you don't see the option to choose your preferred conversion rate, it means that your card can only use either your card's conversion rate or PayPal's conversion rate.

I hope this information helps,
Ayesha

Hi @PayPal_Ayesha

Thanks for your reply. I understand all of the below. When I choose to use my card issuers conversion rate, Paypal is still processing the currency conversion and charging me in my local conversion rather than allowing my card issuer to do this as I have selected.

Hi @chrismasonnz,

I'm sorry to hear that the selection you have chosen is not what is happening. Please reach out to Customer service for troubleshooting. If it turns out that there is a technical issue, a representative can notify the technicians who can investigate further.

I hope this can be resolved quickly!
