Refund pending for nearly a week

Hey guys

So I've never really had an issue getting a refund of any kind. However I made an order from Nike (I have done before) and sent my goods back and got a refund. The refund is placed but has been almost a week pending, while this usually just takes a day or 2 to show up on my bank account after refund.

So still nothing, anything I have to do or just keep waiting?

Thanks!

Pending refunds can only happen for two reasons.

1. The seller has issued a refund from their bank account which takes time to process.

2. You funded the payment to the seller using bank transfer. What PayPal do here is credit the recipient on your behalf (so there is no delay in despatching your item). Then if you receive a refund in the meantime they are unable to issue this until the original bank transfer completes.

This could make sense. I paid using bank transfer, which was deducted from my bank at 12 january. The order was placed using paypal from my bank account at 10 january. The refund issued at 13 january. So that might be the reason?

Yes that would be the reason.

I funded a payment from my PayPal balance, then the seller issued me a refund, which should have been credited w/o delay back to my balance, as no bank transfer is involved; however, the refund has been listed as "Pending" since May 18, 2022, and trying to open a case w/ the resolution center is apparently "not possible for this type of transaction". What's going on here, PayPal?

i think it would be best to contact PayPal as they can see the status of the refund since must be credited back to your original payment method which is your bank as what you have mentioned, meaning to say that it will be refunded amount will be posted on your account depending on your bank issuers refund policy. if the status of the transaction on your activity shows "refunded", you can wait for a couple of days because maybe it is still on its way to your account but if the status shows pending, there might be a problem on Nike's end as there is a possibility that PayPal failed to get the money from them.

If its pending then its one of the reasons I have posted above.

Once completed it then goes back to the bank or card used to fund the payment.

There is no need for them to contact customer services as there is nothing wrong.
