For only the second since I started using PayPal some years ago a buyer chose to use my account to pay for an item he purchased off me. Fine except when notified of the payment by PayPal there was a transaction fee in excess of $30 ?

Sorry but if you are selling goods or services and using paypal then you always pay a fee !!!

The only time you don't is when you receive friends or family payments but it's against paypal rules to use that option for transactions.

You can only use that option for sending gifts of money to friends and family.

Paypal charges fees on goods/services payments so that they can fund the service and pay their staffs wages !

That's fine a fee you say! $32.00 for one transaction? I understand PayPay has to cover costs etc BUT I'll be using direct debit from hence on and certainly won't be agreeing to payment by PayPal again on any selling site!

Difficult to advise as you have given 0 information.

Depends on how much you received as to how much the fee is !!

Also are the funds actually showing in your paypal balance and in your transaction history?

As for not using paypal that really doesn't affect me one jot, I am just trying to help you with some free information.
