Preferred payment method

If I purchase something from a store with my PayPal debit card and have my preferred payment method set to a linked card bu there isn't enough to cover the purchase will the rest be pulled from my PayPal balance automatically?

I am happy to help you with your inquiry about PayPal debit card. This is a debit card linked to your PayPal Balance account which allows you to access the money available within your PayPal account. If you paid using your PayPal debit card, the money will be debited from your PayPal balance. If there's not enough balance to cover the payment it may get declined.
