Undo inactive payment

Hi everyone,
Last month I wanted to watch a fight on DAZN and made an account because I had to in order to watch the fight.
Unfortunately, I was a fool and didn't read properly and I accidentally signed up for the 12 month subscription without realizing it.
Today, I suddenly get an e-mail from PayPal telling me €4,99 was withdrawn by DAZN. Not knowing of the 12-month subscription, I immediately logged onto my PayPal account and set the payment to inactive, thinking they didn't properly cancel my account.
So after putting it on inactive, I immediately contacted DAZN to ask them what was up with them charging me money.
This is when an employee told me over live chat that I had signed up for the 12 month subscription and they could not cancel it anymore.
Okay... far from ideal because I honestly don't want the 12 month sub, but fine, I made a mistake, I guess I'll have to pay for it.
But this lands me in the next problem: Since I have put the payment on inactive, I am not sure whether they'll be able to charge me next month.
And after some researching on this community, I found that I cannot undo an inactive payment myself and I have to contact the seller (which in this case is DAZN).
So after explaining this problem to 5 different employees, I keep getting the same answer: "I don't know". Even though I tried explaining that I will need their help with it as I cannot manually undo it myself and basically on here it says to contact the seller.
They keep telling me they don't know.
Well, this lands me in hot water for my feeling. Because if they will be unable to charge me money for a service I accidentally digitally agreed to, I am in trouble.
And I'd rather not face a lawsuit from a billion company like DAZN.
I have aboslutely no idea what to do anymore.
Can anyone please help?

Hello @Malarky and @Temp20231226
Thank you for writing your question in the PayPal Help Community!
I understand your concern about the subscription in your PayPal account. When you make a payment with some merchants, they will sign you up for an automatic payment/subscriptions. You can cancel this subscription anytime in your PayPal account and the steps to cancel the automatic payments can be found here : What is an automatic payment and how do I update or cancel one?
You can cancel the subscription at least 1 day before the scheduled date of the next payment to avoid the charge. You cannot reactivate the subscription after cancelling it. You have to contact the merchant to reactivate the subscriptions.
Hope this information helps,
Bindu
