Venmo Pending transaction "take back" button says error occured

I paid my friend in venmo via her email. She doesn't see it, I see it as pending. When I click the "take back" button, it says error occured. So it has been removed from my bank acct, but sitting in limbo. What can I do?

I understand that you want to know the reason for your payment to be in Pending status. When you send a payment to an email address or mobile number that is not associated with an active Venmo account, the payments status will shows to you as Pending. This can also happen if the email address or phone number hasn't verified by the intended recipient. This means the payment will debit from your funding source but won't reach to recipient until they add and verify the phone number or email address on their Venmo account.
