What happens if you don't have Venmo and a customer uses the Venmo option with the PayPal gateway?

I do not have a Venmo account.  I never had a Venmo account.  I don't plan to ever have a Venmo account in the future.  I did not ask for Venmo, and there is no way to opt out of Venmo showing up on checkout for my invoices or my shopping cart Gateway.

What happens if you don't have Venmo and a customer uses the Venmo option with the PayPal gateway?

PayPal wouldn't answer me or give me any way to solve the problem of there being a payment option I do not and have never used before.  At least one of their people acknowledged there is a problem.  Venmo said, its a PayPal problem ask PayPal.  I currently have a customer that says they paid (or tried to pay) using Venmo.

PayPal says even if they did make the payment there is no direct way to get the payment even though they are the ones that added the option.  I don't have a Venmo account so I can't get the payment directly.

AND of course all this finger pointing and circular logic is made just a little more absurd because PAYPAL OWNS VENMO.  If you visit the Venmo Facebook page it even says its managed by PayPal.

I don't know if the customer is out his cash.  I don't know how to prevent the problem from happening again.  Nobody will answer with any useful information.  I filed a complaint with the Ca State AG since PayPal is (or was) based in Ca, but I expect that will go nowhere.  Who knows.

Worse I do not know how many incomplete orders on my website may be related to this problem.  If they take the money its really bad, because I sure don't get it.  If they don't it's costing me sales and annoying the customers.  Maybe if enough people have a chat with the Ca AG maybe something will happen to fix the problem.  Maybe the AG's office will send a coder over to help them.  LOL.
