Why is Paypal taking money out of my bank instead of using my balance?

Why is Paypal taking money out of my bank instead of using my balance? My account preference is and always has been setup to use my balance and there are sufficient funds in my balance.... This just started happening a few weeks ago

This just happened to me also.  I have plenty of cash in my balance, and I have "told" PayPal the ALWAYS use my cash balance as first choice.  The purchase was made at a reputable online vender where I have bought stuff before without having this problem.  I normally don't keep enough money in my linked bank account to pay for most purchases - it was just lucky this time I had enough in there to cover the payment.

This just started happening to me too! I have always had mine set to use my balance and it still is but now every online purchase I make they are taking direct from my linked bank account instead of my balance!

 Very irritating !

Same here. I don’t know why. It has kept me from buying on e-bay and going to Amazon instead 😡.
