Unable to link my bank account to my PayPal account

I am unable to link my bank to my PayPal account. I eliminated my original account with Wells Fargo since i am closing that account. I want to link my PayPal account with my Wells Fargo checking account instead but when i try to add this account i get an error message indicating that i already have that bank linked up. the problem is i now do not have any bank accounts linked with my PayPal account and thus cannot transfer any funds to my checking account at Wells Fargo. how can i remedy this? Tried using PayPal Assistant and they couldn't help.

Sorry to hear that you're not able to link your bank account. The bank account can’t be linked to more than one account at a time. If you have already closed your old PayPal account, please try to wait for 24 - 48 hours for the system to update the changes and then try to link the bank account. You can also contact us by clicking the contact us option at the bottom of PayPal page for additional assistance.
