How do I add a visa gift card to my paypal balance?

I got a visa gift card for fathers day. Cant use it on ebay but they told me I could add it to my account on paypal. Been waiting for a reply from paypal but losing patience. Is this even possible?

Not possible because it is not allowed extract cash off Visa/MC prepaid gift cards to your PayPal balance.. Purchases only. Use it on Amazon, Walmart and the like.
