My fund was deducted three times with no obvious reason

Good afternoon,

On August 28, 2024, I transferred an amount of Rp 212,320 from my PayPal account to my bank account. On August 31, 2024, the funds were refunded to my PayPal account. However, the refunded amount was deducted by Rp 50,000 (I didn't know for what reason, at that time), so the amount that returned to my PayPal account was only Rp 162,320.

On the same day, August 31, 2024, I received two emails from PayPal. The first email explained like this:

"A recent transaction with your bank account ending in xxxx didn't go through.

As a result, we have removed this bank account from your PayPal account.

To re-add this bank account to your PayPal account, please confirm with your bank that all information is correct. Alternatively, you can add another bank account."

The second email goes like this:

"An electronic funds transfer from your PayPal account to your bank account was rejected today for this reason:

Invalid Bank Account Information

Our system was not able to process the transaction with the bank information listed on your account. You should contact your bank regarding the bank account information required for electronic funds transfers."

So, following up on those emails, I relinked my bank account to my PayPal account, after reviewing and fixing the information about the account.

Furthermore, on September 4, 2024, I transferred funds again in my PayPal account amounting to Rp 197,102 to my bank account. The same incident happened again: on September 6, 2024, my fund was refunded to my PayPal account again, and again the amount was reduced by Rp 50,000, so the amount that entered my PayPal account was only Rp. 147,102. And again, I received two emails from Paypal with the same explanations as quoted above.

I contacted my bank to ask about the Rp 50,000 deductions, and they said they had nothing to do with it.

So, I tried to fix again what might be missing about the "wrong information" of my bank account, and relinked the bank account to my Paypal account. I hoped this time there wouldn't be any more problem.

On September 24, 2024, I transferred my fund of Rp 152,077 to my bank account. And guess what? On September 26, it happened again. I received two more emails from Paypal with exactly the same messages as quoted above. And my fund had been deducted again by Rp 50,000. So, I only received Rp 102,077 in my Paypal account.

Today (October 3, 2024) I happened to find out a link in my Paypal account where I could download the report of all the transactions happening within a given period of time. And just in that report I found out where my deducted funds of total Rp150,000 were. It was each a "fee" for "Reversal of ACH Withdrawal Transaction".

There's indeed another fee for any transfer from the Paypal account to the bank account, and that's only Rp 16,000 - an amount fairly acceptable to me. It was shown on my account Activity as well, so it's okay. Besides, each time my fund was refunded, Paypal transferred back the Rp 16,000 fee into my Paypal account, so it's kinda fair enough for me.

The unfair thing is: each time the refund occurred and the Rp 50,000 deduction happened, it didn't show up on my account Activity, and there's absolutely no explanation readily available to me concerning those deductions. If I didn’t download the transaction report, I might be left forever with no idea about where the Rp 150,000 deduction (three times Rp 50,000) went to.

So, I'm only here to ask for explanation. Why should that "fee" for "Reversal of ACH Withdrawal Transaction" even exist? Did it serve as a "fine" for not delivering correct information on my bank account which caused the refunds? And is there any way possible for me to get that deducted Rp 150,000 back into my account? Because, frankly, I see no reason whatsoever for those deductions to ever happen.

All the 'fees' that Paypal charge are clearly stated under FEES bottom of Paypal website pages.

When Paypal provides you with a service to withdraw funds it is free, however if the funds do not transfer due to an error on your part then you are charged the processing fees linked to that transfer and reversal.

Excuse me, can I ask for a link to that information concerning fees?

Did you read the first line of my above post?

Just scroll to the bottom of the page and click on FEES.

I did read and re-read it. That's why I ask again, because I didn't find any link at the bottom that reads "FEES". So, I think it's simpler to just give the link to the page that contains the clausuls concerning fees.
