Why can't I add money to my PayPal instantly not 5 days

I bank with nationwide so have a visa debit card and I cannot understand why I can't add money to my PayPal instantly not standard BACs timescales

You can't add funds to a paypal account via a card, only a linked and confirmed bank account.

You can still add funds instantly by using the information in the 2nd option in your paypal wallet via your online banking account.
