paypal balance not updating

I received an email notification that I received some amount but once I login on my wallet the amount is not on my paypal balance, what is the issue. I need help.

I do understand that you have a query regarding the payment received on your PayPal account. Please reach out to the Support Team during business hours by clicking the contact us option at the bottom of PayPal page to get assistance with your issue. If your unable to login or are not in access of your PayPal account, you can connect with us via phone call as "as a Guest" (this does not require you to sign in to your PayPal account.

This happened to me today after years of receiving payments from a company I've been working with. I kept refreshing my browser, closing and relaunching the phone app and after two hours, i saw notifications that i needed to first, verify my email, then confirm my identity. I don't recall if i had done this before so i completed the process, scanned my ID and took a photo and then voila, 10 min later the money showed up in my balance.
Check your msg and alerts to see if you have a similar notice.
