Hi Have anyone tried to be scammed this way? I bought an item on a site with a lot of private users who sell their stuff through this site. I pay via PayPal and pay for G/S insurance. Everything is good. Seller is good at answering and everything works fine. Suddenly I get an email from the site that they have found suspicious signs with the seller + the item I just bought. Shortly afterwards, I receive an email stating that a case has been opened on PayPal for the purchase I have just made. I think it is the site that has done it on my behalf when they wrote that I should stop paying if I hadn't already and then get my money back from PayPal. Shortly after, I get an email saying that I should have closed the case I just created, despite the fact that I have done nothing! Now I understand what has happened. Seller created a case against him himself on my behalf and then closed it, so a case on the same matter/reason against him created by the REAL me cannot be reopened. In other words: I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED! At one point, the seller asked me for the last 4 digits of my card number to see if they match the 4 digits he received in the transaction. I gave them to him, and now I can figure out that he has used the 4 digits to call customer service and pretended to be me. It also seems incredible that you can do that, since the last 4 digits are not particularly secret. What should I do now??! Have any of you experienced anything like it?? I've clearly been scammed and I'm super frustrated and shocked at how easy it is to pretend to be me and thus do things with my PayPal on my behalf. Thanks in advance. Kind regards
