Sam Ash scam resolution

My husband found out that the Sam Ash Music stores were closing and saw an ad on Facebook to buy equipment at highly discounted prices.  It took him to a website with the Sam Ash logo and he ordered 2 guitars.  It went through PayPal but when the charge came up, it was from a scammer in China.  I called PayPal to let them know not to pay it, but I was told that because it was pending, I would have to wait 7 days and call back.  WHAT!  I'm letting them know that numerous people are buying from the fake site but they won't do anything about it now??

Buyers beware.  Do not go to a Sam Ash site from Facebook - it a scam!

I flagged the FB post as a scam yesterday - it is STILL UP and the FAKE SITE is advertising everything for $99, 69, 129 - meaning, Les Pauls, all Fenders, Martins, Taylors, and the full selection of Keyboards. It's silly - folks in China/wherever have figured out how to make fake sites. What tipped me was the poor resolution "Payment graphic" with Visa, Paypal, etc - - it was all pixelated and was obviously wrong. I got scammed on a pop up site that occurred to me when looking at Wayfair - it looked so real - then, no shipping when I checked out. After I didn't receive the item, luckily Paypal had my back and I got the hundred back. These scammer folks are making bank on people who are "just taking it as a lesson" or "just letting it go" who let them get away with a hundred or more as if it was an honest mistake. FB should be held accountable; I can't believe the site is still up and it's August 14, 2024. How long has it been up? Why doesn't the BBB step in? Why doesn't Sam Ash complain? In this day and age I'm baffled these scammers are still getting away with it.

Interesting. I reported it as well and the reply I got said the ads don’t violate community guidelines.

Me too. They have no standards. What about laws?

I doubt that facebook will do anything. I've seen the same scam ad run for weeks on Facebook.

I have tried to report these fraudulent ads on Facebook, they make it damn near impossible to do so, and I always get the response that these ads do not go against their advertising policies. Facebook must have some serious ties to China scammers or something.

Maybe FB is guilty of criminal negligence by not being able to stop what a third grader can see is the clear theft of account holders

Found the Sam Ash ad on FB myself and, although I'm usually a friggin' bloodhound when it comes to things like this, seeing some of my dream DJ gear (including a top-tier rig that retails for over 3k) for dirt-cheap prices was enough to make me pull the trigger without a second thought... Unfortunately, the red flags started flying immediately AFTER the whole process was underway; the confirmation email I got was from a RUSSIAN domain, the way it's pending on my card statement features a different merchant name than who Paypal told me the charge was actually going to, and the FB page that's linked to the ad is loaded with pictures of KOREAN FOOD and the occasional Sam Ash logo...

I've already gone into damage-control mode mentally, fully anticipating a bit of a struggle to get things resolved, but here's hoping I'm wrong...

They got into your head and a whole to of others including me,and that’s why there are 1,300 fake Sam Ash ad campaigns running daily. They are stealing so much money so easily because FB with can’t or won’t stop them.
